Question: What is WA MASS?
Answer: WA MASS is a network of more than 20 organizations across Washington State that work together to provide support and services to asylum-seekers and other migrants.
Question: What is the Hub?
Answer: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is the WA MASS “Hub”. The Hub is responsible for conducting eligibility screening, intake, and needs assessment for WA MASS clients. Every WA MASS client must complete intake and needs assessment with the Hub before being referred to an organization that provides case management, legal or housing services.
Question: What services are offered through WA MASS?
Answer: WA MASS services may include referrals for case management, legal services and housing assistance. Resources are limited and cases are prioritized based on need.
Question: How can I access WA MASS in-person?
Answer: You typically need to schedule an appointment in advance for an eligibility screening. See the “Access the Hub” Section of our webpage for physical hub locations where you can schedule an appointment.

Question: Can I choose which service provider or office to work with?
Answer: Clients will be prioritized for referrals based on needs. Referrals will be assigned to providers based on their proximity to the client and their capacity to take on new referrals.
Question: Can I go to a service provider without first going through the Hub?
Answer: All cases must go through the Hub for screening, intake and needs assessment. You can approach any of the WA MASS service providers, who can help connect you to the Hub for screening, intake and need assessment.
Question: I do not speak English, does WA MASS provide language assistance?
Answer: The Hub and other WA MASS providers have interpretation services available to meet as many language needs as possible. Inquire about available languages.
